Types of Handbags Every Woman Should Own

Be honest with yourself, how many handbags do you own? How many are stored in little hiding places all-around your home? Well in my case, many! Of course, the ones that I actually use are in easy access places but the rest are stored away out of sight, out of mind, never to be used again. Because the truth is, all we really need are five to six essential bag types, one of each, if we are keeping it to minimal, to have on hand for every occasion. So today I’ll show you which according to my experience are essential bag styles that every woman should own.

1. The Classic Black Bag

Well, this black bag is going to be our number one go-to because black matters and suits almost everything. Also medium to large top handle ones can hold your book or tablet, your make-up pouch, basically all your essentials. Black is a neutral color and will never go out of style. Make sure it comes with an additional strap so that you have the versatility to wear it over your shoulders, just in case you want to keep your hands free.

2. The Chic Tote

Sometimes you just need the versatility of throwing everything in just one bag and that is where a roomy tote comes into play. Whether you’re going shopping, traveling, weekending, or just running some regular errands, it’s always comfortable to carry around a basic tote bag. Buy the one that looks professional too. A structured leather tote is a great option to carry to offices as well. They are just plain, simple, and very practical.

3. The Cross Body

This bag is perfect for days when you want to hang out with your friends and need just your phone, wallet, and some keys because carrying very large bags for just a meet-up when you don’t need a lot of stuff with you can be a little hectic and uncomfortable. So cross-body bags are perfect for such situations, whether worn over the shoulders or across the trunk. It leaves your hands free and gives you freedom of movement, while also keeping your things close. Also, it should not be too heavy and should be medium-sized.

4. The Comfy Backpack

One of the most convenient and easy to carry bags in my opinion is a backpack. No matter what age you are, there should always be a backpack in your closet. It’s for the days when you want to carry a lot of stuff with you, still want to keep your hands free. It gives your shoulders a break and even sought the weight proportionally. Stylish or sleek backpacks these days are also serving as a great fashion statement piece. The pattern you choose completely depends on your style.

5. The Straw Bag/Beach Bag

One of the bags that I think is ideal for summers is the straw bag because obviously, you wouldn’t want to use your leather bag or any other very expensive bag as a beach bag. Sand ends up going everywhere and things just don’t work out. Just pack it up with some snacks and a towel for a beach day or with your everyday items for any other regular summer day. Straw bags also mostly come in neutral colors so they go with almost every summer outfit and look very chic at the same time.

6. The Statement Clutch

A very important bag style that every woman should have is a clutch. Now obviously it’s not the best look to show up at a party or a fancy event with your tote or big black bag on a pretty dress. So, it’s important that you have a clutch in your closet to make your after-dark look more chic, sophisticated, and glamorous. The most versatile style to have would be a metallic clutch in gold or silver because it goes with almost any party outfit, even with your Indian dresses.
